Most failed retaining walls in north Georgia failed for one reason: nothing drained behind them. Water builds hydrostatic pressure against the back of the wall, and no amount of block quality survives that. A retaining wall is a drainage structure that happens to look like landscaping.
If a wall is leaning, bulging, or stair-stepping apart, it isn't the block that failed.

When a wall needs engineering
Height, whatever sits above it, and the soil determine whether a wall needs stamped drawings and a permit. A four-foot wall holding back a flat lawn is a different animal from a four-foot wall holding back a driveway.
We'll tell you which one you have before we quote it, rather than building to the edge of the line and hoping nobody asks.
What We Build
What actually goes behind it ?
Drainage aggregate, filter fabric, and a perforated pipe that goes somewhere — not just a few feet of gravel and backfill. Compaction in lifts as the wall goes up, not all at once at the end. Geogrid where the height calls for it.
None of this is visible when we're done. All of it determines whether the wall is still straight in fifteen years.
